The practice of Qigong involves breathing techniques that use energy to improve overall health. It reduces stress, boosts immune system, raises energy levels and improves balance and coordination. The Shaolin Temple defines it as a 'science of the mind and body'. Monks were taught to use Qigong to energize, clean bone marrow and to strengthen blood and immune system. Slow movements allow you the time to deeply observe your body from within. When you do Qigong breathing exercises, you exhale toxins from different parts of the body. It is said that 70% of all toxins expelled from the body are released through breath! I began to incorporate some of these breathing exercises as part of our daily routine to accelerate our cleanse and feel more energetic yet relaxed.
