The Interconnection Of New Ideas

Youths and entrepreneurs are leading the way in developing ideas about environmental and sustainability issues that are vital for solving the current problems we are faced with. The Global Landscapes Forum recently held alongside COP21 in Paris, included a diverse group of people that discussed (technological) ideas for resolving these current issues of environment and health. Participants included 'The Nature Conservancy', who showcased the latest tools and technologies that were being used for increased production, improved livelihoods, protection of forests, landscapes, watersheds and for more biodiversity.

Other participants included 50 youth innovators that teamed up for 4 days in order to brainstorm ideas that would develop solutions to five real-world land-use challenges. Their ideas, which included an exchange program between smallholder farmers where they share resources, such as storage facilities and centralized distribution centers, can immediately be implemented to solve these land-use challenges. A speaker worth noting, named Salina Abraham said, " To us this wasn't just an exercise... These could be real-world solutions to real-world challenges. So, I want to ask from you two things: the first is to concretely integrate youth into the work that you do and the solutions we have to offer into your organizations; the second is to support our Youth in Landscapes initiative so that we can continue to grow and enable youth, so that we can become the leaders that we will have to be in the world."

All over the world, discussions and actions are taking place, whether it be a group of people or a single individual, such as in the case of Samuel Malinga. He is a 26 year old from Uganda who recently received the Tony Elumelu Prize for Business at the Future Africa awards for his development of a full-cycle sanitation system. This sanitation system was built of local low-cost but highly hygienic toilets. In an effort to protect the environment through reducing and reusing waste, he also developed briquettes as an alternative source of energy to charcoal.

“The exposure we gain by traveling to other countries is also priceless. It widens our perspective, introduces us to new ideas and links us up with like minds from faraway lands.” - Samuel Malinga (interview with Onyedimmakachukwu Obiukwu)

Samuel is driven by "designing an effective marketing, distribution, and profitable business strategy that can be brought to scale." He cites Albert Einstein in saying, "Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of minds to think." He says, "Agricultural Engineering has well packaged courses with design, business training, other engineering disciplines, agriculture, farm power and machinery, environment, water, energy and social fields. I had to apply the knowledge I acquired from university studies to develop technologies that are solving community problems. For sustainability, every good technology has to be accompanied with a decent business approach to enable people to buy it."

Youth and entrepreneurs can provide different, innovative and new ideas that can help solve the problems we face today in addressing climate change and sustainability. These problems are interconnected and cannot be understood or resolved within our "academic disciplines and government agencies".

"A resolution can be found only if the structure of the web itself changed, and this will involve profound transformations of our social institutions, values, and ideas. As we examine the sources of our cultural crisis it will become apparent that most of our leading thinkers are outdated conceptual models and irrelevant variables…The shift from the mechanistic to the ecological paradigm is not something that will happen sometime in the future. It is happening right now in our sciences, in our individual and collective attitudes and values, and in our patterns of social organization. The new paradigm is better understood by individuals and small communities than by large academic and social institutions...To facilitate the cultural transformation, it will therefore be necessary to restructure our system of information and education, so that the new knowledge can be presented and discussed appropriately. " - excerpt from The Turning Point 1982 by Fritjof Capra

"Government also has to create public awareness about the effects of deforestation and importance of environmental conservation. It can do this by encouraging the teaching of subjects on climate change in schools and also by funding research towards cleaner energy options." - Samuel Malinga

How do we see ourselves?

Suffering that exists in this world is not something that we must go though. But as it is there, one must understand it and go beyond it. A mind that is incapable of suffering is religious in the true sense of the word. It becomes a passionate mind. A mind that is hurt, is not an innocent mind. An innocent mind is incapable of being hurt. From Latin innocent meaning 'not harming'. But the word has been misused.
From childhood, parents compare their child with another child. When we compare, we are hurting our child, yet we do it! Is it possible to educate a child without comparison, without images, so the child can never be hurt in that way? One is hurt because one has built an image about oneself. It's like placing a wall between you and others and if others extend upon that wall, you get hurt. A child can identify with a name, it does not need an image. Through education, through tradition, through propaganda, we have built an image of ourselves based on what others say. Can a child ever be educated to never get hurt? Professors and scholars say, a child must get hurt in order to live on the world. But when they are asked if they ever want their child to get hurt, they are silent.
Through education and the social structure of our society in which we live, we have been hurt. We have images about ourselves, made by comparison, which are inevitably going to be hurt. Is it possible to be rid of the image that has been created of ourselves and never to create one again?

Our higher mind is free of images and conditioning. Imagination is the key in the alignment of our physical and higher mind. It cannot be hurt. 'I' 'magi' 'nation' - we are a nation of magicians. Imagination is a powerful tool that can be used to allow and create the changes we prefer to create within our lives individually and/or collectively, globally.
Our imagination is the conduit between our physical and higher mind, through which our higher mind communicates with us in ways which are more reflective of our passion, our excitement and preference. If you are willing to use your imagination without filtering the communication from your higher mind through belief systems that contain fear (such as the image of ourselves placed by others of who we are and what our limited capabilities are), then you will find that the outcome can always be a positive one and you can always amplify and magnify that in any direction and area of your life. The higher mind can see all the pathways or possibilities we can take in life and it guides you towards the path of least resistance - the path that is most truly you. By following your excitement and true passion, you will always be completely and purely on the path that is most truly you - your core true natural self.

They are closely interconnected and interdependent

Currently re-reading 'The Turning Point' by Fritjof Capra, a must -read! Here's an excerpt from chapter one:
'It is a striking sign of our time that the people who are supposed to be experts in various fields can no longer deal with the urgent problems that have arisen in the areas of their expertise. Economists are unable to understand inflation, oncologists are totally confused about the causes of cancer, psychiatrists are mystified by schizophrenia, police are helpless in the face of rising crime, and the list goes on… the persistence of slums, poverty and crime.
None of them, however, identified the real problem that underlies our crisis of ideas: the fact that most academics subscribe to narrow perceptions of reality which are inadequate for dealing with the major problems of our time. These problems, as we shall see in detail, are systematic problems, which means that they are closely interconnected and interdependent. They cannot be understood within the fragmented methodology characteristic of our academic disciplines and government agencies.
Such an approach will never resolve any of our difficulties but will merely shift them around in the complex web of social and ecological relations. A resolution can be found only if the structure of the web itself changed, and this will involve profound transformations of our social institutions, values, and ideas. As we examine the sources of our cultural crisis it will become apparent that most of our leading thinkers are outdated conceptual models and irrelevant variables.'

History Repeats Itself

"If you view time as a wheel, all we have to do is figure out how long the wheels are, and then if there's a traumatic event that happens in the wheel, and then the wheel turns again, we're in the future.
Past, present and future do exist in one sense, but if something really bad happens in a previous wheel, it's going to happen again in the next one because it leaves a residue. It leaves a blue print. So that does very much relate to the cycles of history. Some of this stuff are archetypes and it's like a universal mind, but some of it is the result of things that happened before. And when the cycle comes around again those influences, we have to work off the trauma - and they will repeat." - David Wilcock.

Honest Communication

Communicating honestly about products and services is important to consumers. A poll of 12,000 consumers from 12 countries around the world were asked which brands they consider most authentic. McDonald’s, Samsung, Apple and Carrefour took the top spots globally. In the U.S., Walmart, Starbucks, Amazon and Apple landed at the top. Article here.
'When people talk to me about Illuminati and they say Illuminati is so scary. I say, You don't have to use a hypothetical. You want to talk about people behind close doors who make decisions about your life and what they are going to sell you that may be killing you…that's Walmart! Caveat Emptor, (Latin: “let the buyer beware”)

Although I support the 'labeling of GMO food', I can't help but wonder how much time and effort is wasted in trying to convince government agents and corporations that the public has a right to know what kind of food they are eating. We need people in the health industry, to do their jobs and use their position to make the changes necessary for a healthier society. The public continues to demand GMO labeling, while some are fully aware that corn (for example) and the foods that are packaged in our groceries stores (containing corn ingredients), are genetically modified and dead food - whether labelled or not.
Would it be best to use our time and energy in educating ourselves on healthy eating, and accepting that most food is GMO?
Once they label GMO food, then what?
What happens if you find out all the food you were eating was genetically modified?
Was this cause for the purpose of seeing these labels in place, or so that you can eat healthy food and stay away from GMO food?
If you research deeply, you will find that you will most likely have to cut out most of the food you are eating (if you are on a Standard American Diet). So instead of waiting for labels, you can use your energy to educate yourself on the food industry and you will find that if you want to be healthy, you need to make these changes now. You don't have time to wait to see labels. Accept what you know is GMO, stay away from it, stop buying 'dead' packaged foods, because whether you know that it's genetically modified or not, it is unhealthy to eat.
Put your energy towards growing your own food because you will know what you are growing. But this is definitely a challenge for those living in the city and renting apartments or condos. For those who are faced with this challenge, such as us, we are buying organic fruits and vegetables that we have researched about - that are not common GMO foods. We also don't eat anything dead, like cereals or packaged pastas, microwave dinners, etc. This demand for GMO labeling is equivalent to cigarette boxes being labelled (Cigarettes cause lung cancer).
Labels are necessary, but for those who have already educated themselves about the GMO foods that do exist, and for those who already know that 'dead' food does nothing except confuse and hurt the human body, what are you going to do about it now - for the well being of your family and yourself?

Organic food is monitored and contains the least amount of GMOs, but you must continue to research changes, since American organic apples and pears may contain antibiotics, but Canadian organic apples and pears do not. Learn more:

'Circumstance does not make the man. It reveals him to himself.'

Excerpt from 'As a Man Thinketh' by: James Allan
James Allan is the author of 'As a Man Thinketh'. He was a British 'philosophical' writer who inspired and motivated others through helping them realize that:
'A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.... As the progressive and evolving being, man is where he is, that he may learn, that he may grow... When he realizes that he may command the hidden soil and seeds of his being, out of which circumstances grow, he then becomes the rightful master of himself.'
For a New Year's resolution,  I strongly recommend reading 'As a Man Thinketh'. The audio file can be found here. Enjoy!

'The Herbs ought to be distilled when they are in their greatest vigour and so ought the Flowers also'

Our Gods' Herbs have arrived! After extensive research and some experience, we have decided that detoxing/cleansing our bodies are vital. Changing to a better diet is necessary, but without first cleaning what is there and what has been there for many years (that we don't even know about), it is ineffective. One has to ask at some point in their life, what causes the stress that they feel daily and why is the medical industry unsuccessful in healing. There are so many opinions about detoxifying and what foods to eat to be healthy, but until you start to experiment, then you can't know for sure.

One thing that we've realized is that since we were born, we have in fact been experimenting with pharmaceuticals. If you don't agree, then you must have never seen a doctor, been born in a hospital or taken any drug/pharmaceutical at any time of your life (this includes tylenol). But most of us have. So now, with the realization of knowing that we have experimented with pharmaceuticals and modern medical treatment, and have had no success in healing, we have to take a chance (if we want to be healthier) and start experimenting with alternative healing. In natural healing (not medicinal), the remedies comes from plants or from eating fruits.

We chose natural healing even though we were never diagnosed with any 'disease', because we just felt unhealthy (acidic) and less energetic. And now that we continue on this path, we are becoming more aware of what doctors had never told us or were unaware of themselves. And the fact is that with your Standard American Diet and use of pharmaceuticals and vaccines, we have an entire world of sick people. So that's where we are starting from now. We accept that we are sick and want to heal. If your mother was unhealthy (in any way) when she gave birth to you, then you were born unhealthy as well. A woman should always detox before getting pregnant, unless they don't mind bearing a sick child and continuing on their own sick path.

When we learned about Iridology, we were surprised to find out that each part of your eye represents specific parts of the body, such as organs, glands and tissues, as well as what health state they are in. Many people who have cleaned out the acids and lymphatic build up from their bodies, have had their eye color change entirely. A body congested with acids will cloud the eyes' natural color and appear discolored.

Health is simplistic. It's simple chemistry. It's not natural chemistry vs pharmaceutical chemistry. There is only 'chemistry' - a branch of physical science that studies composition, properties and behavior of matter; it is the interactions between atoms. If you study the interaction of atoms, you see that acids destroy and alkalizing heals (balance is also necessary). Chemo therapy is acidic and 'cancer' is acidic - so how can this be the solution to cure 'cancer' (a toxicity/deficiency in the body)? How can this possibly relieve any pain and begin to regenerate and heal tissue. IT DOESN'T.

Try something new, if you dare! Realize, if you can, that suppressing doesn't help and 'disease' takes time to emerge. Just because you haven't been diagnosed with anything, it doesn't mean that you are not sick. In all the videos and information that we have explored, we find that many people who detox give up because their bodies begin to appear as if it is getting worse. Until you go into a detox with the realization and logic that during a detox, the body will reveal all it's weaknesses (problems), then it will be nothing but a struggle for you. Believe it or not, at this point, we are glad to finally see things that no doctor could ever see until it would be too late. We will embrace every natural side effect that we get - knowing that it means we are moving towards health and not actually getting sick.
Try the eye test. Take a pic if you can, then place the eye chart over top to see where your problem areas are. Click here to learn how.

Your health weaknesses reveal themselves during detox. - Robert Morse

'We have finally started to notice that there is real curative value in local herbs and remedies. In fact, we are also becoming aware that there are little or no side effects to most natural remedies, and that they are often more effective than Western medicine.'

'At the higher stages of energy continuation, one will find his movements are now being governed by the movement of his internal energy.'

Quote by: Wu Ta-yeh
The practice of Qigong involves breathing techniques that use energy to improve overall health. It reduces stress, boosts immune system, raises energy levels and improves balance and coordination. The Shaolin Temple defines it as a 'science of the mind and body'. Monks were taught to use Qigong to energize, clean bone marrow and to strengthen blood and immune system. Slow movements allow you the time to deeply observe your body from within. When you do Qigong breathing exercises, you exhale toxins from different parts of the body. It is said that 70% of all toxins expelled from the body are released through breath! I began to incorporate some of these breathing exercises as part of my daily routine to accelerate my cleanse and feel more energetic yet relaxed. Nerves are more relaxed the stronger they are and more hyper kinetic when they are acidic. You can check out some Qigong videos here. Or order some videos online here. Enjoy!

Berries And Melons, Greens And Herbs - Cleanse Follow Up

For seven months now, we have been grain-free. It's been almost one year now that we began an 80% raw food diet, two years of going dairy free and three years of eating organic food. We experienced symptoms such as bloating - which forced us to cut out more food and continue to change our diet. We learned the importance of the lymphatic system - the body's sewer system. If we aren't draining the lymphatic system then it doesn't matter that you are eating raw vegetables. Vegetables are actually lower in nutrition and harder to digest than fruits (raw or cooked). This was the cause of our bloating - as well as water. When our bodies are unhealthy, we are too acidic. When you are acidic, water will only bloat you and not be able to hydrate you. Too much water can actually fill in the lungs causing further problems! We'll be writing an upcoming post about the water myth - based on our knowledge and experience.

We are now hydrating with fruits (as well as 1-2 glasses of lemon water daily) and have felt a dramatic change in doing so. The chemistry of berries and melons are best for lymphatic congestion. Fruits such as berries and melons hydrate the body and provide nutrition to feed the blood while moving the lymphatic system. We have started a more 'Fruitarian' diet (including fruit vegetables such as cucumbers, tomatoes and avocados) with some greens and herbs. Based on our experiences so far, we find fruits to be the most pleasurable way to deal with cleansing. We have limited the use of Bentonite Clay - although we feel it is still safe to use. If you choose to try Bentonite Clay, check for bloating. Bentonite Clay expands and if you are not digesting properly, it will bloat you, which is a sign of acidity. Discontinue use if bloating or constipation occurs and focus on moving lymph with fruits.

Since acids are responsible for all health problems, it is important to alkalize. Although lemons are acidic fruits, they have a high alkaline mineral content which has an alkalizing effect on the body. To cleanse and maintain health, we need to have an acid/alkaline balance. We live in an alkali base planet and you need to maintain a balance of acidity and alkalinity, otherwise you will not survive on this planet and will gain 'diseases' at a later time when your body may not be able to handle it- depending on your state of acidity. Proteins should be avoided during cleanses and exercising should be kept to a minimal because it is not safe to put your organs to work while they are clearly not functioning properly. When we exercise in an acidic (unhealthy) state, we create more acids that must be released from the body or else will accumulate to create 'diseases'. We must first clean our bodies in order to become healthy.

"We are living beings requiring living foods, but we aren't just living vertebrae, we are homosapian vertebrae - meaning we are the highest neurological species on the planet - in every way, shape and form; therefore we must consume energetics equivalent to that (which is your fruits and your berries and melons)" - Dr. Robert Morse

Organic Certification

When shopping for organic food, it's important to check the labels for 'organic certification' and the ingredients. There are many controversies about the authenticity of USDA Organic foods - based on their standards for testing and Canada Organic apples containing small traces of pesticides - probably during shipping. When you understand the dangers of pesticides in non-organic food, you want to eat organic. Nothing in this world is guaranteed and there is no doubt that there are corporate giants who are packaging unhealthy food with 'USDA Organic' labels.
However, eating healthy isn't just about organic food, but also about what foods you choose to eat. Although we like to buy local, some of the fruits and vegetables we purchase, such as oranges and avocados, come from the US. We will not choose to buy a USDA organic cereal box from 'Kashi' that contains dead ingredients with traces of genetically modified ingredients, BUT we will buy an organic avocado. If our chances of pesticides are even 50% lower, this is what we want to eat.
The reality is that until we start growing our own food that we can keep an eye on, we don't know for sure. But we aren't taking any chances with non-organic food or 'organic' labeled products that are not certified. Canada Organic is the equivalent of USDA Organic. You can learn more about their regulations and standards here. To learn more about the controversy behind USDA's Organic products click here.

Benefits of Bentonite Clay

Bentonite Clay is composed of weathered and aged volcanic ash, and is one of the most effective and powerful healing clays available! It is safe to consume and can be taken internally or externally (as a poultice or bath) to detoxify the body. Bentonite Clay has a strong negative ionic charge that attracts things that have a positive charge, such as heavy metals, toxins, harmful bacteria, pesticides, and other pathogens. The clay simply binds with these toxins and exits through the colon and the kidneys! It is a simple and effective way to clean our bodies and cure disease. It can also be used as personal hygiene for your skin, teeth and hair!
We recently purchased some liquid Bentonite Clay that we'll be taking internally in order to continue cleansing our digestive system. We will post our results in about a month or so.

'A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus'

Quote by: Martin Luther king Jr.
Dave Meslin is a Toronto based artist and organizer involved in a variety of urban projects. I decided to write a post about his 'TED' talk because I felt it was similar to the issue of food and health - the public not being provided with accurate information about health and food labels, as well as the important role that the media plays in affecting our views about what healthy food really is, and how we are discouraged from being involved.

Dave Meslin believes most people don't lack interest or desire for a positive change in the world, but that the system we live in, actively discourages engagement. Our municipal government, for example, whose duty is to provide the public with local services, safety and infrastructure, discourages such behavior by failing to display accurate, visually appealing and clear information when a city project is proposed. It fails to peek the public's interest to engage in the project, by not asking to hear from the public and by providing 'unreadable' public notices - which limits understanding.

The media also plays a major role in our views and involvement towards political change. It discourages public engagement by focusing more attention on celebrities and scandals. In the media, political articles fail to provide any information, such as contact information or follow up stories, that can allow for the people to be politically involved in their community.

In the case of charities, according to the 'Charitable Purpose, Advocacy and the Income Tax Act', Section 149.1, the common law prevents charities from engaging in 'political' activities. 'Judges have reasoned that by engaging in political activity, the charity enters into debate over a policy that may or may not be a public benefit, rather than working towards an accepted public benefit.' This is seen as a serious problem because Dave Meslin feels that the most passionate and informed voices in society will remain silent, especially during election time.

Dave presents circumstances that are backed up by the law, the people and spaces that are around us, and by the way we interact with each other and the government. In order to live in a better community, you have to be actively involved. Heroism/leadership is imperfect and voluntary. It comes from within, following your own dream, uninvited, and working with those who can make your dream a reality. You can check out his TED talk here. Enjoy!

The Birth Of Abnormal Behaviour

The symptoms of ADHD include lack of attention, impulsive behaviour and hyperactivity. A main cause of these symptoms in children is pressure on the nervous system. When there is pressure or an abnormality on the spine, which is located in the central nervous system, it can cause an interruption to the brain signals - affecting how our bodies function. During birth, newborns frequently suffer subluxations. Subluxations are bones that are out of place, which put pressure on the nervous system. Many women find hospitals to be a stressful environment. During a stressful child birth, the cervix cannot dilate and in turn can cause birth trauma such as subluxations.
If the body cannot function properly due to pressure on the nervous system, it will suffer from disease. Since the peripheral nervous system's function is controlling the gastrointestinal system (digestive system), digestive disorders are common among mental illnesses.
ADHD is a deficiency in the body that cannot be cured with medication. To treat a disease (mental or physical), your body requires enzymes. Enzymes (such as those found in organic raw foods) will predigest food properly, to allow the metabolic enzymes to be in full use for rebuilding new and healthy tissues and bones, ultimately curing disease. Without food enzymes, our bodies are forced to use the digestive enzymes (found in our body) that are in competition with metabolic enzymes, which will result in limited tissue repair. 80% of our immune system, which fights off disease, is in the gut flora. Pro-biotics are healthy bacteria needed to repair the gut after the use of anti-biotics. Heal your body naturally and have a trusted chiropractor assist you in this healing process.
UPDATE: Detoxing your body can realign your spine and heal your organs. Read more here.

What is age?

"Your body grows old and so does your mind when it is burdened with all the experiences, miseries and weariness of life; and such a mind can never discover what is truth. The mind can discover only when it is young, fresh, innocent; but innocence is not a matter of age. It is not only the child that is innocent - he may not be - but the mind that is capable of experiencing without accumulating the residue of experience. The mind must experience, that is inevitable. It must respond to everything - to the river, to the diseased animal, to the dead body being carried away to be burnt, to the poor villagers carrying their burdens along the road, to the tortures and miseries of life - otherwise it is already dead; but it must be capable of responding without being held by the experience." - Jiddu Krishnamurti

'The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness.'

Quote by: John Muir
Today, we start a four month journey to cleanse our bodies of accumulated toxins and foods! We chose a four month period based on the blood cells regenerating every 120 days. For two years now, we have eaten strictly organic foods. Our gluten free journey began about one year ago. But because it's only been 2- 6 months that we began pre-soaking nuts and seeds, and grains including flour, it's impossible to know how effective gluten free flours and pre-soaked grains are - until we first cleanse our bodies of the unhealthy accumulated seeds, roasted nuts, grains, and gluten flours!
Even though we feel healthier, our bodies are still accumulated with toxins from years of abuse when we were ignorant about the harmful effects of sugar, dairy, processed foods, caffeine and alcohol. In order to remove these toxins, we need to change our diet accordingly. We'll also have to eat less on our bloated days - something we are experiencing from switching to an 80% raw food diet.
Our (now grain free) diet will consist of mainly raw foods, which means we will get more creative with the food we'll be preparing. However, since Fall and Winter is approaching, we will be including soups, baked potatoes and steamed vegetables in our menu. We will also be eating a lot of sprouted vegetables, including sprouted mung beans.
We'll be sharing some of our daily menus in our upcoming posts, so stay tuned for some tasty and even healthier recipes!

The Life Of The Trees

'You have to observe this vast movement of life, not only your own particular life, but the life of all humanity, the life of the earth, the life of the trees, the life of the whole world — look at it, observe it, move with it, but if you treat it as a problem, then you will create more problems.' - Jiddu Krishnamurti
